Hon Gavin Glover, S.C
Attorney General of Mauritius
Gavin Glover SC was appointed Attorney-General of Mauritius in November 2024. Before taking on this role, he earned a reputation as one of the island’s top litigators, practising in both civil and criminal cases. He headed his own Chambers and represented a diverse range of clients, including local and international companies.
Born on 26 April 1962, Gavin Glover SC was a State Scholar in 1980 and studied Jurisprudence as the Anderson Scholar at Balliol College, Oxford University. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1985 and joined the Mauritian Bar the same year. He established his own practice shortly thereafter and served as part-time Prosecuting Counsel from 1987 to 1990. He eventually took silk in June 2010.
In 2003, he was appointed member of the Steering Committee on the Liberalisation of the Legal Profession. Gavin Glover SC has also been an active member of the Mauritius Bar Association, serving successively as Treasurer (2000–2001), Secretary (2002), and President (2003).
Gavin Glover SC upholds a notable family legacy in the legal profession. His father, Sir Victor Glover, served as Chief Justice of Mauritius, while his grandfather, Harold Glover, was a judge of the Supreme Court. He is married and has three children, including his son Kevin, who has followed in his footsteps by joining the Mauritian Bar. Beyond his professional commitments, Gavin Glover SC is a former President of the Mauritius Turf Club and an avid horse racing enthusiast.
